Vicolo del Poggio (Still)

“VICOLO DEL POGGIO” CROATINA I.G.T. (Still)

Barrel aged wine

MUNICIPALITY AND PRODUCTION AREA
The hamlet of Poggiolo di Montù Beccaria, in the Oltrepò Pavese area in Lombardy

LOCATION AND EXPOSURE OF THE VINEYARDS
Grapes from a 30-year-old vineyard located at the tip of the hill, with south-east exposure. The soil is medium-textured with a good amount of organic substance that allows the vine to have a perfect vegetative-productive balance.

PLANTING DENSITY AND VINE TRAINING SYSTEM
Guyot, with an average planting density of about 4.200 vines/hectare.

GRAPE BLEND AND HARVEST PERIOD
Croatina 100%
Late manual harvest: the grapes undergo a natural drying in the vineyard thus triggering a solute concentration process.

VINIFICATION AND BOTTLING
Red vinification, characterized by a long period of contact with the skins (20-25 days) in concrete tanks at the end of which the wine obtained is drawn off. After a few months of contact with the noble lees, it ages for about 24 months in French oak barrels. Subsequently the wine is bottled and put on the market after six months.

SENSORY TEST AND TECHNICAL NOTES
Still wine with great body, ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose gives off a perfect combination of small ripe red fruits and evolved notes attributable to coffee, spices and vanilla. In the mouth it is deep, full, harmonious and with a persistent finish. Before serving, it is best to let it settle for at least an hour.
Alcohol content: 15% vol – Acidity: 5.5 – 6.0 g/l
